Live from the Basement

at Hat Factory, Luton

Featuring British Soul Jazz Sensation

Paprika Soul - Live

Formed in 1993 by Alan Barnes and Andy Spiller as part of Soft Sugar Productions, Paprika Soul has become one of the UK's most respected names in Soul Jazz.

Alan Barnes, founder of Soft Sugar Productions, Paprika Soul, and Fluid Vibes, is the executive producer and artistic director behind every track - the driving force steering the band's sound and securing its record deals.

Andy Spiller, arranger, producer, engineer, and keyboardist, brings a deep well of musical experience. He's written for TV, worked on West End shows, and remixed tracks for artists like The Lighthouse Family, Diana Carroll, and Mark Morrison. He's also a consultant for Yamaha Japan.

Together, they've crafted a sound that's all about groove, soul and imagination. Paprika Soul are known for reimagining rare covers with originality and flair, blending smooth jazz with funk, Latin, and soul-infused rhythms. Their music defies categorisation - refined, but full of feel.

Support on the night from:

Indigo Soul, fronted by powerhouse vocalist and composer Tania Rosato, whose career spans collaborations with legends from Acker Bilk to the Spice Girls.

Plus, a special DJ set from Perry Louis (Jazz After Dark / Mi-Soul Radio) spinning vinyl flavours of jazz, funk, and beyond
