| Doors open: 2:00 PM
On Sunday 14th June, the JazzCotech Crew and I will celebrate 25 years of Shiftless Shuffle, a journey that began during the heyday of Messin' Around, the Saturday night Jazz, Funk, and Boogie party we ran at the Jazz Café.
Week after week, our shows featured DJs, live bands, and 20-minute Jazz dance showcases performed to packed houses. Over a decade, these performances became iconic, making JazzCotech the most featured act in the venue's history and inspiring a wave of JazzCotech-led club nights, teaching projects, and performances worldwide.
The name "Shiftless Shuffle" comes from a Herbie Hancock track on "Mr. Hands" a true Dancefloor jazz monster and the opening for our JazzCotech dancers when we supported Maceo Parker at the Forum in Kentish Town. It wasn't just a name, it was, dance, movement, rhythm, and history in the making.
Twenty-five years later, we are still moving. Still grooving. Still shifting and shuffling. Keeping UK Dancefloor Jazz alive.
