Karma Sheen
Hailing from cosmopolitan London, the music of Karma Sheen merges Hindustani Classical, fuzzy 60s Rock à la Jimi Hendrix, and Sufi-inspired lyricism, deeply rooted in cultural heritage. Spearheaded by Sameer Khan, who's formally trained by a 600-year-old lineage of musicians from modern-day Pakistan, this group of multi-instrumentalists aims to bring timeless tradition to new realms. By daring to embrace the Hindustani format while drinking from retro aesthetics and resignifying it all with the avant-gardism of neo-psych, they create something both recognizable and new. Karma Sheen released their raga-infused debut album on October 13th, 2023, and the group became known for their captivating performances fuelled by a plethora of electrified folk instruments. They increasingly gained space in the live circuit, supporting established acts such as WITCH, Yin Yin, Dur-Dur Band, Derya Yildirim & Grup Simsek, and Sarathy Korwar.
& Sons of Sevilla…
Sons of Sevilla are brothers Henry and Reuben Smith hailing from Featherstone in the North of England. Began in 2020 during lockdown by chance. At the time Reuben was working on solo material for his second album with Soundway Records. When Henry visited Reuben at his home studio to play guitar on the record, one afternoon they wrote a couple of songs. Liking the sound they found they began writing and recording every day for the entire summer.
Recently relocating to Spain, Henry & Reuben now live between the stunning mountains of Andalucia and their birthplace. Having had a close connection to the city of Sevilla since they were kids.
As they step out with their debut long player on the hallowed Southern Californian super label, Ubiquity Records, the second LP is already in the making. They have worked on the album with Adrian Quesada of Black Pumas out in Austin TX, with Adrian producing the record and performing on two of the tracks. Additional guests on the recently recorded follow-up album include Herbie Mann's son, Geoff Mann on drums, percussion and flute along with Marcos Garcia (aka Chico Mann) lending his talents on guitar and bass who are both accomplished artists on their own right.
Vinyl DJ Dr Robert ( Le Beat Bespoke/Mousetrap) Spinning a mixture of Underground Psych & Garage
& Callum Gallagher
