Description

Desi Central is back with another amazing line-up and night of nothing but laughter with Patrick Monahan, Aatif Nawaz, Mickey Sharma & Tez Ilyas.

Doors Open: 19:00   -  Last Entry: 19:30

Patrick Monahan:

Audience favourite Patrick Monahan blends a high energy comedy style with hilarious and engaging topical and observational material. Known for working a room, Patrick is adored by his audiences with whom he makes an effortless connection!

From February 2016 the family's favourite funnyman (and occasional disco dancer) is on tour across the UK with his brand new stand-up show The Disco Years! Charged by Patrick's memories and reminiscences of being an immigrant to Great Britain, this is a laugh out loud show that is both thoughtful and smart as well as brilliantly silly!

Early in 2014 Patrick took part in the hit family entertainment series 'Splash!' (ITV) and appeared on the brand new series of 'Celebrity Squares' (ITV).

Winner of the 2011 ITV1 series 'Show Me The Funny' which led to the release of his debut DVD 'Patrick Monahan Live' (2 Entertain).

Patrick is also a regular MC and headlining act at the top London and UK comedy clubs and in addition to this he is in huge demand on the corporate circuit as an after dinner speaker and awards host.

Aatif Nawaz:
Aatif Nawaz is an award-winning British-Pakistani television presenter and stand-up comedian. He has also won acclaim for his acting, filmmaking, radio presenting and writing.

One of the most respected acts on the circuit, Aatif has built a reputation as one of the most popular British-Asian comics in the UK.

In 2014, Aatif performed his debut solo 60 minute comedy show 'Talk Roti To Me' in front of 4 sell out crowds at the iconic Leicester Square Theatre in London.

This was followed up by Aatif's critically acclaimed 'Muslims Do It 5 Times A Day' comedy show which played to 11 sell-out audiences in London's West End.

A trained actor, Aatif has featured in notable roles in Mark Austin's Real Crime and Peep Show. As a bilingual actor, Aatif has also appeared in the Urdu-language series Lehrein and the film Majboor. He also wrote, directed and starred in the Urdu television series 'Bahir Waalay'.

Mickey Sharma:
Mickey Sharma's mix of comedy and another form of artistry (you will see what I mean) make him as unique as he is funny. His high and contagious energy helps him tame any crowd no matter their age, gender, ethnicity or amount of alcohol consumed.

Mickey is extremely comfortable anywhere on the bill; be it MC, opening or closing. A highly regarded act that will have you trying to copy his catchy material (unsuccessfully) for a long time after seeing him.
Mickey is an Indian that was born in Pakistan (its true!) in '82 while his father was working for the Indian Embassy. After living in Pakistan, the family moved to Beijing, then Hong Kong, before finally moving back to India in '90, where he lived till 9th September '02, when he moved to Birmingham!
Having endured various jobs like a waiter, shelf stacker, camera assistant and Bouncer, Mickey started comedy in July '09 and now works as a full time comic and travels all over the UK and sometimes abroad (Spain, Romania, India, Czech Republic). Amongst other competitions, he was Winner Bath Comedy Festival New Act Competition 2010.

Tez Ilyas:
Tez Ilyas the ground running finding himself in no less than eight competition finals including the prestigious BBC New Comedy Award and Leicester Mercury New Comedian of the Year in his first year as a stand up. In 2015 Ilyas achieved phenomenal success with his debut stand up hour TEZ Talks. A sell out run at the Soho Theatre and his own Radio 4 series based on the show followed, with a second series quickly being recommissioned.

In 2016, his highly anticipated follow up show Made in Britain went on to sell out every single performance (including extra shows) at the Edinburgh Fringe and gained spectacular critical acclaim, with a smash hit nationwide tour in 2017.

His third show Teztify once again delivered a spectacularly powerful, provocative and brilliantly funny hour of topical stand up, delivering to packed out audiences night after night.

Tez has appeared on The Last Leg (C4), Mock the Week (BBC Two), Live From the BBC (BBC Two), Man Like Mobeen (BBC Three), Live from the Comedy Store (Comedy Central), Kevin Hart's Live from Montreal (LOL Network), Virtually Famous (E4), The Now Show (BBC Radio 4) and made a brand new quiz show pilot for Vice. He has also written and starred in his own scripted comedy shorts for BBC Three, BBC iPlayer and Sky Arts.
